A Novembre poi è tempo di Tartufo a San Miniato. Paese storico di origini etrusche-romane, si trova in una zona collinare vicino al fiume Arno e dista da Montecatini Terme circa 30 Kilometri. Il ritorno della grande avventura. Un grande artista americano firma il poster di Lucca Comics and Games 2011! Don Maitz è uno degli artisti fantasy più apprezzati nel mondo anglosassone. Le sue copertine (per scrittori del calibro di Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, C. J. Cherryh, Stephen King, Gene Wolfe, Michael Moorcock) gli hanno fruttato numerosi premi, tra i quali due Hugo Award, il riconoscimento più alto nel campo della fantascienza per un artista. Autore di due libri di illustrazioni, "Dreamquests: The Art Of Don Maitz" e "First Maitz", Don è soprattutto noto negli Stati Uniti per il suo Capitan Morgan, personaggio immagine di un celebre rum americano. È tuttora l'artista più celebre per i personaggi pirateschi e corsari, quando "Monkey Island" e "Pirati dei Caraibi" non esistevano ancora. Per celebrare Salgari, autore di indimenticabili pirati caraibici e malesi, Don si è rivelato una scelta obbligata! Maitz conosceva già le opere di Emilio Salgari ed ha realizzato una perfetta fusione tra l'iconografia della grande avventura legata all'immagine del pirata malese Sandokan, e l'atmosfera rinascimentale dei vicoli lucchesi.

Svelati i primi ospiti di Lucca Comics 2011! Jiro Taniguchi, il popolare mangaka sbarca alla cinque giorni di Festival per avvolgerlo con la sua arte. Jeff Smith torna a Lucca per celebrare i 20 anni di Bone, mentre è invece la prima volta per David Lloyd, il creatore grafico di quel V for Vendetta che si è indiscutibilmente imposto come uno dei fumetti più influenti del XX secolo. Per quanto riguarda l'Italia, riflettori puntati su due degli autori più acclamati degli ultimi anni, i creatori di raffinati 'romanzi grafici' Davide Reviati e Manuele Fior. Ed è solo il primo assaggio di una lista che diventerà lunghissima, e includerà alcuni dei più bei nomi del fumetto mondiale

Vogliamo così dare il segnale che il Giappone è pronto a sollevarsi ancora, a stupirci con la sua forza e ad accettarci a braccia aperte per proporci la sua cultura. La novità più forte di quest'anno è proprio l'ingrandimento del Japan Palace che conquista il primo piano del Real Collegio, accessibile da due rampe di scale e da un'ascensore.

The return of the great adventure. A great American artist signed poster of Lucca Comics and Games 2011! Don Maitz is one of the most popular fantasy artists in the Anglo-Saxon world. Passeggiata a Montecatini Alto
Passeggiata a Montecatini Alto
Qualche giorno fa mi è venuta la brillante idea di andare a Montecatini Alto a piedi. Montecatini Alto è il nostro centro storico a circa 5 kilometri da Montecatini Terme e dal nostro albergo.
Montecatini Alto è un graziosissimo Borgo Medievale e arrivati lassù si può ammirare un bellissimo panorama, vedere la Chiesa del Carmine fare una passeggiata sulle mura vedere la Torre dell'orologio e gustare un gelato o un'altra sfiziosità Toscana ai Bar Gelaterie e nei Ristoranti e Pizzerie che si affacciano sulla Piazza Giusti, piazzetta incantevole. Montecatini Alto merita davvero una visita per la pace che si respira tra le sue vie e non solo......se non vorrete fare come me andandoci a piedi potete raggiungere Montecatini Alto con una graziosissima centenaria Funicolare che vedrete nelle foto e nel mio filmino.
Oppure per i più temerari (semmai non facendo come me che ci sono andato in un bel pomeriggio soleggiato ma torrido ;-) potranno farsi questa bella passeggiata fiancheggiando la Funicolare. Ci sono anche le indicazioni del sentiero Trekking che poi è la Via Crucis.
Allora preparatevi si parte ;-) Spero che Vi piaccia la mia escursione........

Walk in Montecatini Alto
A few days ago I got the brilliant idea of going on foot to Montecatini Alto. Montecatini Alto is our old town about 5 miles from Montecatini Terme and from our hotel.
Montecatini Alto is a lovely medieval village and up there you can admire a beautiful landscape, see the Church of the Carmine take a walk on the walls to see the clock tower, an ice cream or other delicacies to Tuscany Bar and Restaurant and Ice Cream pizzerias overlooking the Piazza Giusti, lovely square. Montecatini Alto is well worth a visit for the peace that reigns in his ways and not only ...... if you do not want to do like me going there you can walk to Montecatini Alto with a lovely century-old cable car that you see in photos and in my little clip.
Or for the more adventurous (if anything does not like me doing that I went there on a beautiful sunny afternoon, but can be hot;-) could do this beautiful walk alongside the funicular. There are also indications of the path then trekking is the Way of the Cross.
So get ready you start;-) I hope you like my excursion ........
